Summer
Technology Camp
Program
The Summer Technology Camp (STC) provides 50 youth in grades 4-8 with the
resources and guidance to use technology as a tool for developing creative
projects.
Working closely with professional technology mentors, the young people in
this Program will conceptualize, design and implement internet-based
projects using new software and hardware. The Program includes additional
classes in web and graphic design.
In addition to its technology component, the Program is designed to further
engage youth through a series of recreational and community-driven
activities and respected, professional and dynamic guest speakers. A series
of weekly field trips, for example, give students the opportunity to
experience the professional application of the internet first-hand.
The summer program culminates in a Youth Technology Festival, at which each
student and their mentor is expected to present their project to the
community. Through this project students acquire important computer skills,
while at the same time developing their literacy skills and their
researching, interviewing and public speaking abilities.
